I look out over the man-made pool above the man-made parking lot and see where God spoke. He said ‘land, you go to here, ocean, you go to here‘. Uncreated one. Eternal before any beginning you have been on your throne. You breathed the starry heavens. My God is mighty. He spoke these things into being. How much more does He love me? He could have decided to just speak to the dirt to make man. But He got His hands dirty and “formed man from the dust of the ground“. Then God literally poured some of himself out when He “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life“.

He knows my name. I am a friend of God. He knows the number of hairs on my head,He knows every day of my life! All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be! How precious concerning me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.

Letting go

garage sale day!!!! I am always amazed when I see people burning perfectly good fuel to drive around from community to community, house to house, to pay people to take away something that the owner desperately wants to get rid of, and will most likely have on the side of the street just hours later with a free sign on it!! we unload gobs of stuff we haven’t used in forever, and people gave us money for it!! As we went through the day, we had to talk our 3 year old out of a few trees. Okay it was more like a potential meltdown. We had to explain that we were letting go of things we haven’t used in a while, and that we still had plenty more inside the house!!! (We’ve already had to place a ban on getting any more stuffed animals)

Think about all those public storage units. It’s pretty sad to think that we have so much stuff that we aren’t even willing to live with it, we actually rent more air conditioned space for it! To that I say “Do not store for yourselves treasures on earth”

We all worship. It’s just a matter of priorities. Our job/career/spouse/kids/family/God/books/hats/toys/electronics>

We had a dvd player and tv for sale so we set them up to show they actually worked, when I sold the dvd player, we forgot to eject the veggietale movie!! Now that is some treasure worth pursuing! Because of the endless line of cars in our Cul-de-Sac laden neighborhood, I decided it would be easier to ride my bike to look for the red hatchback I had placed the electronics in. During my pursuit for said movie, I found a used mountain bike we could put to good use, and end tables with a bonus coffee table that matched our entertainment center in perfect condition and discovered that I really like the freedom of riding a bike. I pray that we can let go of more things so that the things we own never “own” us.

So we let go of a lot of things, gained a few more, got to meet some more of our neighbors,earned money we could tithe on the next day, and started what I hope will become a healthy habit of family friendly exercise.
